SCI-MATH WEEK AT MANRESA: Where Curiosity Sparked and Minds Lit Up!

Manresa School lit up with excitement as this year’s Sci-Math Week transformed hallways, classrooms, and even families’ homes into lively spaces of discovery, creativity, and mathematical fun. The celebration featured engaging activities for learners from Nursery to Grade 6, proving that Science and Math can be hands-on, thrilling, and full of heart. The week opened with a vibrant program that set a festive tone for all participants. Younger pupils from Kinder to Grade 1 enjoyed an AVP introducing the wonders of Sci-Math Week, while upper graders gathered for a live launch hosted confidently by two Grade 6 pupils. Music from The Greatest Showman filled the venue, followed by an energetic performance from the Cinemanresa Club and Grade 6 dancers. Cheers erupted during “The Memory Showdown: Unmask the Sci-Math Pairs!” as pupils matched tiles revealing Sci-Math symbols and answered trivia questions after every pair. Each match brought laughter and friendly competition, marking the first winners of the week. Adding excitement to every Science period was the Peek-a-Sci-Pic challenge, where blurred images encouraged pupils to observe carefully and guess the hidden object. Correct guesses were acknowledged in class, turning ordinary lessons into moments of suspense and discovery. The Sci-Math Escape Room pushed the thrill even further as teams of five solved puzzles and decoded clues under a three-minute countdown. Each team needed teamwork, strategy, and quick thinking to escape successfully, and the fastest groups were celebrated as Sci-Math escape masters.

Daily excitement continued through the Science Question of the Day, where pupils wrote their answers on slips of paper and dropped them into grade-level Science Boxes during recess and lunch. Each afternoon, teachers drew one correct entry, and the winner was recognized the next morning, creating a fun cycle of curiosity and anticipation. Families also joined the celebration through the PolyBot Activity, crafting impressive robots from recyclable materials using 2D and 3D shapes. The creativity of the entries showed how imagination and mathematics can work together. One pupil who won the said event was Joseph Baynosa of Grade 2 Charity. Meanwhile, Visions of Color allowed pupils to express their artistic side by coloring science-themed artwork displayed on bulletin boards. With only colored pencils, oil pastels, and similar materials allowed, pupils added details and shading using their own techniques while keeping the original drawing intact. Outstanding pieces from each grade level received certificates of recognition. The week concluded with Quest in Line: Sci-Math Challenge, a lively game where pupils ran to line up behind their chosen answers to Science and Math questions. The excitement of quick decisions and fast feet made the event unforgettable. In the end, Sci-Math Week at Manresa stood as a joyful celebration of curiosity, creativity, and collaboration. The entire experience reminded every Manresan that Math and Science are more than classroom subjects—they are amazing adventures waiting to be explored.

Here’s to another year of discovering, questioning, experimenting, and celebrating the wonders of Sci-Math!
