F.I. National Youth Assembly 2024

The National Youth Assembly 2024 opened on the 28th of February 2024. Pototan Iloilo and the Colegio De La Immaculada Concepcion (CIC) hosted the 4th NYA inviting the IHS Congregation to the school’s campus grounds.

With a spiritual and eventful day ahead of them, the students and the teacher companions of all invited schools wake up and freshen up early to prepare for the day and interact with one another. Questions such as “Did you sleep well?” and “What is your school like?” showed the true care and compassion the FI community has for each other.

This communal bond continued to be shared among the delegates during the procession of the Youth Cross going to St. Joseph Parish to celebrate the Holy Eucharist presided by Rev. Fr. Ildefonso Cachuela Jr.

The CIC students amused the participants with their cultural performances. This included the CIC marching band, and elementary, and high school students of CIC who showed stories of the IHS community and St. Candida’s mission in CIC.

The afternoon session was full of insights and learnings about being hopeful and blessed amidst Post-Pandemic Challenges, beginning with the message of Pototan Mayor, Mayor Rafael Lazaro and the inspirational message of the Provincial Superior, Sr. Emelinda Falcis, F.I., Sr Lyn pointed out some points such as Embracing Purpose, Listening to God, Lifestyle and Gratitude, and being an Image of God.

These messages were deepened during the talk show with the invited alumni of St. James Catholic High School where they shared their personal experience of Pandemic struggles and hopes. The participants were able to talk about their reflections on the given topic during the small and big group sharing.

The night of NYA Day 1 became colorful and vibrant as the participants showcased their cultural presentations. The Hijas de Jesus schools performed different festivals, traditions, and songs in which their school/center is located.

All these were concluded with an "Examen" to thank and recognize God’s presence throughout the day.
